I m planning to visit the Red Sea after few weeks, so please if you can help me I need to know some kind and names of rare & interesting shells of the Red Sea.

Toyota (common), Ford (common & usually on the coral reef), Hummer HR3(uncommon under rocks), BMW (rare, hard to find), Nissan (common INDP), Mybach ( extremely rare & expensive only in the deep water 500m), Peugeot 307 ( fabulous, number1 on the world …. Why?  Because it’s my car & really it looks like Sypraea Pantherina.

Maybe this summer, I will visit the red sea too!!
In the red sea you can see : lambis truncata, tibia insulaechorab, pinctada margaritifera, tridacna maxima, cypraea tigris, cypraea pantherina, terebra maculata and many others!!
There are many seashells in the red sea!!

Thank you, I just return back from the red sea, Red Sea is fabulous place but be careful it is to hot in the summer specially in the mid of the day, also take care if you are going to search between & under the rocks there are many kind of dangerous fishes I found like: Stone fish, Scorpion fish, Lionfish I have many photos I take for all this fishes during my snorkeling if you want I can send them to you, so tack care protect your body well and very important to wear a good gloves, I collected from there many types of shells like: Cypraea Panthrina,Grayana,Arabica,Carnelo,Erythraeensis,Lynex,Nebrites,Pulchra,Caurica & Isabilla also several types of Conus & other shells.

What kind of Cone shells species you found there ?
Cypraea erythreensis is a very nice specie. Was it
common there ? What kind of habitat it's related to ?
Did you met Cypraea camelopardalis there ? it's a
wonderful local specie. Did you scuba there ? Snorkle at night ?

I found there Conus Striatus, Virgo & Pennaceus, Cypraea erythreensis was not easy to find I found it not under rocks under coral or inside the coral ( dark red color coral) in tow deferent places, unfortunately I did not found Cypraea camelopardalis I think I must dive to find it & I was snorkeling in 1to2.5 M only, I do make snorkeling at night but for short time 15-20 minute only ( I was alone ) & this is crazy to do I was feeling  scared so I return back quickly, anyhow I did not found in the night any shells maybe because the moon was almost full but the good thing I will never forget that there was many kind of fishes & it was very easy to catch & to touch.

Thanks for the additional informations. Do you have pictures of Conus pennaceus ? I
guess it's not common there ? Scared at night : you saw many sharks there ?  :/

I sent to your e-mail the pictures & these Conus shells was identified by Mr. Pule with great thanks to him, according to sharks I did not see any shark during my trip, in fact  I was afraid of naiad & I m a married man HHHH…..  I was far away from the beach snorkeling alone beside the coral reef it was nice but dangerous & I don’t recommend   any one to go alone for snorkeling at night in far places if you are with me I m sure you will keep snorkeling up to the next day without feeling the time.

We all have to be carefull while shelling. Though, I snorkled and dove a lot at night in the Pacific Ocean (Tahiti, New Caledonia) and in the Indian Ocean (Seychelles) and I must say that it is not that dangerous afterall. Sharks are not that interested by us. But It could be different in front with big White Sharks and Tiger Sharks... While diving we seem to take less risk too. But it is better to swim/dive in group as the number makes the strengh and sharks are very sensitive to this...
