Hi all,
Can somebody help in identyfying this 42mm shell from Indian Ocean (Seychelles - Mahé island). I cant even place the family (Muricidae? Melongenidae?)

This is a muricidae : Purpura bufo Lamarck, 1822

Is Thais bufo an other specie or a synonym of P. bufo?

Depends on which book you read! Could be either Thais or Purpura but bufo is the same.

They are synonym. I am not a muricidae specialist, so I don't know which one is valide now. The Digital Murex (http://www.biosci.ohio-state.edu/~molluscs/murex28/index.htm) says it's Purpura.
