Hi peter, Welcome to the site. I wish the picture was a little better, but still I'm quite sure this is Glossus humanus (Linne., 1758), commonly known as the Oxheart Clam. It is a European species, fairly common from Norway south to the Mediterranean. A synonym often seen in older books is Isocardia cor. Compare your shell to this picture: http://www.thais.it/conchiglie/mediterraneo/schede/sc_00466.htm |
